CEO/Communications Director
Intuition, analysis
and inquiry
A naturally
creative soul with nearly two decades
of graphic design, copy writing, public relations
and commercial photography experience, Michael
has become a well-known and much sought after
marketing communications professional.
His broad educational background (anthropology,
history and language studies) and
business (restaurant, medical, technical
and retail) experience has prepared him well
for his entry into the marketing trade.
Michael has
developed, produced, and managed marketing
efforts in print, digital and internet
media for enterprises which cross-sect many
industries. As producer for the world's largest
internet hosting company, NTT/Verio (Japan),
Michael managed web development projects for
the company's clients which included wineries,
real estate concerns, technology companies
and retail enterprises. Among his internal
projects for NTT/Verio, he produced a secure
intranet
which managed the company's partner relationships
for provisioning
web servers worldwide.
As communications
director at Franciscan Estate Wines (Napa Valley),
Michael developed point-of-sale collateral
and print advertising for six premium wine
brands, including one of Chile's largest
wine producers, Estancia. Since 1998, Michael
has managed all marketing communications for
cork-producer Portocork
International (Portugal),
in Europe and North America, including print
advertising, multimedia, presentations, corporate
identity, web activities and packaging. Among
his other clients, he has served Cosentino
Winery, Santen Pharmaceuticals, Dey Laboratories,
Lancaster Estate Winery, Embassy Suites
Napa Valley, St. Clement
Vineyards,
Bed & Breakfast
Inns of Napa Valley and Blue Shield
of California.
Michael is
based in Napa Valley, though his interest
in medical anthropology often finds him in
Bolivia, where he researches the effects
of altitude on health among populations living
at high elevations. But, first and foremost,
he enjoys spending time with his wife Ximena,
son Matteo, daughter Sara and granddaughter
Maya.
